U.S.A.
The Northwest corner of Pennsylvania is characterized by the shores of Lake
Erie, the southernmost of the Great Lakes. The area is known for the untouched
forests and outdoor activities that these woodlands afford. Oil is a prominent
force in the region as well, with the Oil Heritage Region State Park located
in Titusville offering a chronicle of petroleum production in the state. Presque
Isle State Park is another local protected green space and features a large
migratory bird population as well as Pennsylvania's only surf beach. The city
of Erie also features a zoo with animals from as far afield as Africa and Australia.
History is well represented in Oil City, a town dedicated to the harvest of
the local natural resources. The annual Oil Region River Romp takes place in
the Lake Erie area as well and features live entertainment, food concessions
and a variety of outdoor activities from Tionesta to Emlenton.
